Office365: How to Use OAuth With SaneBox

By default, SaneBox will automatically select Oauth instead of password entry when you signup.

How do I sign up my Office365 hosted address using OAuth?

Select the “Use My Office365 account” button.

You’ll be taken to Microsoft’s sign in page.

Enter in your Office 365 email address and then click Next.

You’ll be taken directly to a Microsoft login if your Office 365 was purchased direct from Microsoft. Otherwise you’ll receive a message from Microsoft who will direct you to your organization’s sign in page.

After being taken to your organization’s sign in page, enter in your email address and password and then click sign in.

Now that you have signed in, you’ll be taken back to Microsoft’s page who will ask you if you want to allow SaneBox to access your email account.

Select Accept to continue the signup to your SaneBox Dashboard.

You may be asked by Microsoft if you want to save your settings for a quicker login next time.

Now you will be taken back to the SaneBox site to finish your signup.

How do I login to my SaneBox account?

Visit our SaneBox login page and click on the “Office365 button”.

For accounts purchased directly from Microsoft, you’ll be taken to their standard login page. Otherwise you’ll receive a message from Microsoft mentioning you’re being transfered to your organization’s login page.

Enter in your email address and password and you’ll be taken back to your SaneBox Dashboard.

IMPORTANT: When authenticating to Office365, you may get a dialog box that says:

“It looks like this email is used with more than one account from Microsoft. Which one do you want to use?”

Work or school account
Created by your IT department
your@emailaddress.com

Personal account
Created by you
your@emailaddress.com

You will need to select the ‘Work or school account option, to login to Office 365, (and not other complimentary Microsoft services.)

Does SaneBox Work With Multi-Factor Authentication for Office 365?

Yes! Since you are using Oauth based login that’s under Microsoft’s control, all you have to do is go through Microsoft’s extra verification step to authorize SaneBox into your email account.

 
 

How to Add an additional 365 hosted address to your SaneBox

When doing this sort of setup for SaneBox (or many other SaaS cloud based services) there’s a little set of login / logout / login dance steps that’s part of the routine. To connect more than one email account, we just have to manage the different 365 account logins. This is the case any time we’re working with more than one email address from the same host that uses a “modern authentication” (OAuth2) based login system. (i.e. Office 365, Gmail or Google WorkSpace, Yahoo, or even AOL.)

Follow The Steps Outlined Below

Step 1: Open a fresh browser window. (You can help avoid login conflicts, by using a Guest or Incognito window.)

Step 2: Next go to https://office.com and login to Office 365 with the address you already have on your SaneBox account. Then click on the choice for Outlook (online). It will open up in another tab in the same browser window.

Step 3: Now open another tab in the same browser window. Go to https://sanebox.com/ and complete login with a click on the Office 365 login button. (Login with the address you already have on SaneBox.)

Step 4: Next you’ll look to the site menu choices and click on “Add Email”.

Note: For now we won’t proceed past this 1st “Add Email” step on sanebox.com. Later we’ll come back to this sanebox.com tab to finish final steps.

Step 5: Go back to the 1st browser tab where you did https://office.com login. Logout, via your Account Manager menu. (Menu image usually shows your initials.)

Step 6: To finish up, return to the 2nd browser tab where you have https://outlook.office.com open. Use your browser’s refresh button to re-load the page contents. (This will verify that you’re logged out of the 1st 365 account.) Now choose to “Use Another Account” and login to Office 365 with the address you want to add to your SaneBox.

Step 7: Complete the process by returning to the 3rd browser tab where you began the “Add Email” process on sanebox.com. Click on the Office 365 button to finish adding your additional Office 365 hosted address to your SaneBox.
