Beginning on June 15, 2017, app-specific passwords are required to access your iCloud data using third‑party apps such as SaneBox. To generate an app-specific password, turn on two-factor authentication for your Apple ID and then follow the instructions below.

When you login to manage your Apple ID, it will be listed in the Security section:https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage

Make sure that the email address is the same one that you have signed up with SaneBox.

A.) Click on App-Specific Passwords

B.) You’ll click on the + sign to generate a new password
C.) Enter in “SANEBOX” as seen below
D.)Enter your Apple password and Apple will generate a password for you.

Write this down or save it in a password manager.

How do I use this password with SaneBox?

  • If you cannot login, go here to reset your SaneBox password: https://www.sanebox.com/recover_account

Additional Notes.

  • It may take a few minutes or in really rare cases, several hours for that app password to get to all the Apple servers.
  • Keep a record of your app password, preferably in a Password manager. Apple will not store your password for you.
