Training for a whole Mailing List vs. an Individual Sender or Contact

When you train an email that’s coming from a mailing list (or listserv or newsgroup), you may have noticed that we will send you a verification email. This is to check with you to make sure that you want to train for all participants of the entire list or group. If not, you can easily train for just the one contact.

Here’s an example of the verification email you may receive:

When you receive this email from us, check over it carefully to make sure that you would like every contact that is on this mailing list to go to the folder that you have chosen to train to.

In our example, Scotty has trained all emails coming from the mailing list “jmap.ietf.org” to go to his @SaneNews folder.

If you do not want everyone in a mailing list to be included in a training: simply click on the big colorful button right in our verification email (as shown in the example above) and you will receive a confirmation stating that you only want individual trainings for certain specific senders from that mailing list.

And if you make a mistake: you can easily make changes to that training, from your trainings page on your SaneBox Dashboard, (example below.)

Mail from a mailing list defaults to being labeled / trained as a service. Setting the option to “use sender importance for each message option causes messages from the mailing list to be labeled based on the sender of the message.
