How do I find and view full email headers?

For certain types of support inquiries it is very useful when you include a copy of the full message header details from any email in question. (Note: They are also known as “long” or “raw” email headers.)

Please copy & paste them right into the body of a message to us, rather than sending them as an attached file.

Apple Mail

To view email headers in Apple Mail:

1. Open the message for which you wish to view headers.
2. From the menu, select View –> Message –> Raw Source.
3. The full message is displayed with all headers. You can now select the message header for copying.

Outlook Web Access (OWA)

1. Click the 3 horizontal dots at the top of the message window
2. Select View Message Source.

Outlook 2016 Windows / Outlook 2016 Mac

1. Locate the message you’d like to view headers for.
2. Next choose that email with a tap or click.
3. Go to ** File** for Properties and Copy the “Internet header”. (Outlook 2016 Mac: right-click on that line-item and select “ View Source”.

macOS AirMail

1. Open the message you’d like to view headers for.
2. Look to your View Menu.
3. Select “ Show Raw Source”.

Gmail - web

1. Log in to Gmail
2. Open the message you’d like to view headers for.
3. Click the three verticle dots next to Reply, top-right of the message pane.
4. Select “ Show Original”.

FastMail - web

1. Log in to FastMail
2. Open the message you’d like to view headers for.
3. Click the More button in the top-right area of the message pane.
4. Select “ Show Raw Message”.

Time Warner / RoadRunner / Spectrum

1. Open the Mail message.
2. Click on the View Header button.
3. The Message Detail window appears. Click the View Header link, right-side of the page.
4. Copy the Header.
